we plan to have regular base cab height (36/37)
but want to have desk height (30) island so we can use it as a dinning table

will that look odd?

does anyone have a picture of such arrangement?

thanks

No, not really. This type of thing is done fairly regularly and it looks fine.

I'm short and wanted a lower prep island, so my island is 33" height while the perimeter cabinets are at standard 36". The materials are different, too -- sapele for the counters, maple for the island. Even my very picky architect husband agrees the lower island height looks just fine -- in fact, it makes our open kitchen seem more inviting.
