I also love the honed bianco romano. I understand darker granites tend to be more dense and less prone to stains than white ones. I don't know if honing makes the stone more porous than polished, but antiquing or leathering the surface is supposedly comparable to polishing in terms of porosity. A honed granite should still be more dense and less porous than a marble. Have you inquired about leathering the surface instead of honing?

Thank you for the photo. It seals the deal. I think it is so beautiful--elegant and yet casual. The fabricators honed a sample which looks wonderful in my kitchen. The issue remains possible staining (not longterm durability, thankfully). But it's so lovely that I really don't mind being more vigilant about wiping spills.
