We have a Shaw's fireclay sink waiting to be installed, which is supposed to be the classic fireclay sink. I couldn't really tell you how easy it is to replace, although the size of each one can vary up to 2% so that could lead to some minor issues.

That said, for the price I hope that it lasts close to forever and won't need to be replaced in my lifetime.

By the time your sink needs to be replaced your counters will, too. I have a Whitehaus sink. Use a good quality wire grid in the bottom.

I bought a drop in fireclay sink from Ikea for my pantry. It was not expensive and it is well made. They carry it in single or double bowls.

Kohler has a few drop-in models and makes a good quality sink. Some might be enameled cast iron and not fireclay, but are probably even tougher than fireclay and look pretty much the same (to me!).

For what it's worth, in my current kitchen the sink is definitely not outliving the counter!

We also got the ikea domsjo. We haven't installed it yet but I chose it knowing that if I had to replace it down the line I wouldn't mind because of the cost. It gets great reviews too.

Kalapointer; how is your ikea sink holding up? I love the looks of it - and the price, but wonder if it would always have black lines from pots and pans. ( I am not the worlds best housekeeper). I also love the Whitehaus but it is sooo expensive.

The sink has been in used for 4 years now and looks great. However it is in my pantry so I don't use it every day. I do use one of those silicon mats to protect the bottom of the sink. So I don't have marks from pans and I just clean it with Comet. I think it is a great sink for the $$. Good luck in finding the right sink for you.
