My Hugh Hef Kitchenette is Gone!

Some of you may have seen my old post. (link below ).

Your ideas were so helpful, and they got us going.

Here's what we did. I am really happy with the end result, which i think looks as Connecticut farmhouse as a pool bar really can! It was also very "green", in that we used repurposed elements. And, it probably cost us about $3500 (including the sink and faucet, which were pricey but I had already bought them over 2 years ago).

Before: Harvey Wallbanger, anyone? (what is that anyway)
PhotobucketAfter: Can I get you some Pimm's?

Cabinets: Lowe's base cabinet, $300. Fronted with aged teak that used to be the leaf for an outdoor teak table. Other pieces from the leaf to make toekick and trim above fridge
Bev fridge - $300
Countertop - Boos butcherblock with 8 coats of Dark Tung oil; $300
Backsplash - found on premises in the shed, an actual window the PO had fitted with mirrors - $0
Walls - shiplap to match the greenhouse knee walls. Part of total carpenter labor, appx $1000 including paint
Light - lantern, $300, Nauset Lanterns
Faucet - Herbeau, appx $1000
Sink - polished nickel, floor model, $300

Looks great!

And I love Harvey Wallbangers!!! They are OJ, Vodka & Galliano. I've been giving out too many drink recipes lately. What do you all think of me?

3/4 oz vodka
1 1/2 oz orange juice
1/4 oz Galliano
orange slice for garnish
maraschino cherry for garnish
Preparation:

Pour the vodka and orange juice into a collins glass with ice cubes.
Add the Galliano.
Garnish with the orange slice and maraschino cherry.

And the Pimms is also delightful.

I'll have one of each when I come over to jump in that pool!

Looks great.
What did you do with the disco ball from the original bar?

 o
RE: My Hugh Hef Kitchenette is Gone!

LOL, we actually have a disco ball, in the green house (we can remove it). It looks so cool in the greenhouse at night. We got it for our young daughters's swim parties.

OHHHHhhh behave! That first one is classic Austin Powers! It looks great now and fits your vision and style. Cheers!

The pullout doors are a great improvement in appearance and access. And the backsplash window/mirror is an understated elegance to replace the previous mirror's glitz.

Yes, Harvey would be less at home now perhaps (although Bee's HW sounds pretty good), but I bet you find yourself smiling when you pass by. And that is what counts.

Nicely country, but I don't "see" you serving your guests in 5" heels any more. Did a new wardrobe join the remodel too? :)

Hugh Hef got divorced again! Love how it turned out!

Thx Garden.

Rosie, heels? They had to go out when our wideplank floors went in!

Thx, Bellsmom. The doors were always pocket doors, i just didint have them slid in in the first photo.

Thx Bahacca, Gr8day, Cheers. Austin Powers, tee hee.

Bee --- hmm,. what does Galliano taste like. I googled it and it sounded like Ricolaaaaaa

I love it. Did you redesign the doors so they slide out of sight, or were they already like that? LOve your pool too.

Love the re-do, especially the re-purposing and new elements together. And I'd love one of those HW's. Haven't thought about that drink in a long time, but just might have to go buy some Galliano and make one.

Saw your other post with your new upholstery and it looks wonderful!

Galliano...it's a beautiful liqueur and used to be (probably still is) a pretty bottle. Harvey Wallbangers were very popular, when my dad was in the Air Force. I know everyone would laugh if the kids asked what it was...and say 'it's a screwdriver with Galliano' and then laugh again when we'd look at the tool box :)
