Um, those are actually very nice flat panel natural cherry cabinets. Not likely builder grade.

Great example Nosoccermom! IMO, what makes it work is:

1. lots of clean white
2. nice styling
3. the peninsula blocks the view of a lot of the cabinetry, so that the wood of the cabinet becomes an accent and doesn't dominate
4. the rug partially covers the wood floor on the living side, again preventing wood overdose

Basically it's a case of mostly neutral (white & black), with an accent colour in smaller dose (orangeish wood) - a very successful design formula IMHO.

Thanks, beauty, for identifying the cabinets. They are nicer than the standard oak cabinets.
Still, I'm glad they weren't painted white
