Considering refacing our kitchen cabinets -- I like the layout, we have a big kitchen, and at this point in our lives, rather travel with the big bucks than invest in new cabinetry, electrical, etc. Anyway, shocked at the quote for refacing our cabinets and coating the end pieces with laminate or vinyl. Would opt for an ivory painted wood. Has anyone just replaced the doors & drawers so that they might match the painted end pieces and cabinet frames (50 units of doors & drawers)? Why cover wood w/ laminate or vinyl, we ask. Do contractors want to just install new doors/drawers? We like our tile backsplash, countertop and have new appliances.
