| Wow! Thanks so much for thinking of me, that's so nice of you. And what a beautiful hunk of quartzite. I see there's an Arizona Stone in Livermore, not that close but maybe I can get there this weekend. Thanks again! |

| That is sn amazing piece of art! |

| I emailed Arizona Stone in Livermore about their Fusion. Unfortunately they're out of stock but hope to have a new shipment in late next week. Will keep you posted. Did I show you this photo of Fusion I saw last weekend?

| That is so yummy! I've seen one set of slabs that I didn't really care for that was mostly all gold. All other slabs I've seen, while all very unique, I would have gladly taken home with me. I now eagerly await my shipment. It's gonna be like Christmas seeing what the slabs my place gets looks like. I think i may cry if they are all gold!LOL |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!

| annkathryn, where did you see that quartzite? |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!
| | |
| kinei that slab was at Bedrosians in San Jose. Here's another one I saw at All Natural Stone: All of the slabs in this picture were tagged with hold labels.

| I'm amazed at how different all the Fusion slabs are. Each one is more drop dead gorgeous than the next! |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!
| | |
| annkathryn-are you getting the Fusion as well and just hunting down your perfect slab? |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!
| | |
| Ann, how much did the fusion run a sq foot? I guess I really need to go out and see all these places. Any must see shops for quartzite? |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!

| bahacca that's the million-dollar question! DH and I both love the idea of quartzite in general and the Fusion in particular. We're looking for something beautiful for the island in our renovated kitchen. The kitchen is going to have cabinets with walnut doors/drawers on the sink window "L" and on the island. The perimeter counters will be Ceasarstone Blizzard or another bright white. The back wall of the kitchen will be glossy white cabinets. Inspiration picture (cabinets/counter only, not necessarily the backsplash):
We were originally thinking of Calacatta Oro for the island, with a waterfall edge similar to this:
We still like this idea, but then we started seeing pictures of Fusion and fell in love. I think if we can find the perfect Fusion slab, with more greens than blues and not a lot of the red veining that some of the slabs have, then we'll go for it. The island is only 30"x60", so with what's left of the slab we can make a small counter for a niche in the hall just outside the kitchen, and use it for a vanity top in the hall bathroom as well. The waterfall edge might be over the top in Fusion so we might just have a walnut panel there. |

kinei-here in Orange county, just the stone runs about $50/sq ft. Does NOT include fabrication and install. Best source of QUARTZITE I've found in OC is actually MSI (MS international) off of katella and Lewis. Here is a pic of Hypnose that they had there:

RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!

| kinei are you in the Bay Area? The price for the slab at All Natural Stone was $70 square foot, which I calculated to be around $4000 for the slab. Not including fabrication. I nearly fell over, but DH is of the opinion that the island is going to be the star of the kitchen and he's up for the expense. We're saving lots of money on the cabinets (a mix of Ikea and Sherr's with custom doors for some of the Ikea cabinets) and on the Ceasarstone (will buy during the next sale at Ikea for half the cost of my GC's bid), so we're ok with this kind of splurge on the island. There's so much variation in the stone that it's really important to see it in person. Even the picture that bahacca posted originally at the top of the thread (no longer visible) seemed to have a lot of blue, but she said it was more green when she saw it. |

Ohhh-that waterfall edge is beautiful! And I'm a lover of walnut cabinets-hence the reason my oak cabinets are stained "Dark Walnut"! And here is the greenest slab I have seen again since my links got all messed up. It is worth a look if you are in the OC-this one was at the Arizona Tile yard-shoot-I think this is the one off of katella and Lewis, not MSI. I think MSI is off of Meats in Orange. I'm confusing myself now!

RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!

| Yes-fusion is a stone that unless you see it in person, you cannot get a true sense of the slab. It is like seeing the picture of a person and then meeting them in person. They all have almost a "personality" to them-and a depth that simply cannot be captured in a picture. |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!

| Yes I am in the bay area. Just met with our GC today and he recommended gmsglobal. Have you been there? We are doing an extension on our home and a remodel on the kitchen. We are in the process of getting the building permits right now, so we won't actually be doing anything in the kitchen for maybe even 6 months. However, if we find something in the next couple months that we really love, we may as well purchase it and have the fabricator hold it. |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!

| hi kinei, I haven't heard of GMS Global but just checked out their website. I'd be interested to hear if you find any Fusion there. We're doing an extension and a remodel as well - a house we just bought but haven't moved in to. We're redoing the kitchen, 3 baths, and adding an office. We've been in the process of getting permits for over a month, with baffling and frustrating delays due to the city. Our GC is ready to pour concrete for the foundation but won't without a permit, so work has come to a halt. I'm guessing we'll be ready for kitchen slab fabrication in August if we can get our permit next week. |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!

| Haha, what city? We are in Berkeley. Our home is a small ~1000 sq feet, we are trying to go to 2000. Because of the size and fact that we are going up, we had to get something called an administration use permit (AUP). We applied in Aug of last year, it was finally approved last month. I'll let you know about GMS, I will probably go on Monday. |

| I'm in Mountain View, we have FAR (floor area ratio) restrictions here. Based on our 5374 square foot lot, we're allowed 2397.98 square feet of livable space including garage. Our plan is for 2397.75. A friend who's renovating in Los Altos just sent me this: The city is requiring a Green Point Rating to be submitted with our plans - to the tune of $2500!!! Let me know if you end up finding any Fusion at GMS. |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!
| | |
| I used to live in California, you have already broken about 4000 laws just by waking up in the morning before you even get out of bed. I love California but really, a $2500 GPR rating? WTH? |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!
| | |
| Ann, we are ending up with over 10k in permit fees. My friend who works in SF in the building departed as a plan checker told me that Berkeley fees are higher than SF. |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!

| I saw fusion last week in Sacramento. It was the last piece I saw and loved it; however it was already sold. $39.00 sq. ft. !! I am also going with walnut cabinets. Good luck finding your fusion. It is truly beautiful and mesmerizing. |

RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!
| | |
| $39 sq ft is a steal! I would have asked for the same price on their next shipment! |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!
| | |
| I'm using fusion and think I'm getting a good price at $100. It's one of the higher priced stones in Chicago everywhere I looked. $39???? Unreal! |
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!

| julcarr I love the green swirls in that slab you posted. It's just what I'm looking for - and what a great price, too. I went to another slab yard yesterday; all their fusion was sold but the manager emailed me a picture of a batch that's on a boat, due to arrive in July. It's a bit dark, but no doubt worth seeing in person.
|
RE: annkathryn-I found GREEN Fusion for you!
| | |
| Oye-I'm not in love with the darker versions, though, like you say, wait to see it in person. I just hope that boat isn't the one stopping in port of Los Angeles and dropping off similar slabs for me. I'm tempted to call my gal to see if the ship has come in yet-but I don't want to annoy the heck out of her either by calling each week! |
