I have a straight edge on my perimeter cabinets and an ogee edge on my island.

I don't particularly like Ogee because I have a modern taste/house. But with what you've described, I agree with your husband. It sounds like Ogee would work perfectly.

I think you could do Ogee on the permiter or the island, but I think I like Ogee on the island better and eased on the perimeter.

Just remember that ogee takes slightly more granite square footage to do. It's also thinner on the use edge and slightly more prone to breakage because of that thinner edge.

Thank you all! Entering week 4 of no kitchen and I am going a little batty. It sounds like I should perhaps do the Ogee on the island and eased on the perimeter, rather than flipped which was my original idea. The island has furniture legs, beadboard, etc. Ugh now I am going to second guess myself bc I am not an Ogee fan and the hubby is!

If you get an ogee, make sure the top is rounded. When they drop the bit and create the sharp corner, you're assuring an inevitable chipped edge.

And they're not nice big easy-to-fix chips, they're the too-small-to-get-adhesive-into chips, which have to be enlarged to fix by hand because the sharp profile prohibits tool use.

Sorry I don't have pics for you but, I do have 2 different edges. Ogee on my island and just the slightly curved/rounded edge on the regular counter tops. There was no up charge for the rounded edge. I did pay extra for the island/ogee.
I'm happy with it being different.

Find an Ogee edge somewhere, spill some flour and poultry juice on it, then ask him to clean it up. He might change his mind ;)

I also have Ogee on the island to make it stand out (fancier) and straight on the perimeter cabinets. I have not had any issues cleaning the Ogee edge yet - it's as smooth as the top.
