I think a deep drawer with simple dividers, while not as photoworthy, would be more flexible in the same spot. I guess I look at it and see wasted inches between round (round!) containers. The vertical utensil storage concept is neat though--it needs some knife slots!

Looks cool - but I agree with Fori I went with dividers :-)
I got the idea from GrumpyDave |

I want a drawer like gemini's in my prep area and a drawer like round robin's Houzz post next to my stove. I feel very greedy!

two drawers to house things that can effectively be stored in just one. no thanks.

Yes, it takes a lot of space, but so do flat drawers when you're storing cooking (as opposed to prep) utensils. Tongs and ladles and big spatulas and slotted spoons and the like are all different, sharp-elbowed shapes that don't play nicely together in drawers unless the drawers are large. I even think the round canisters are a good idea, as they help separate and untangle the utensils for quick pick-up.

i have this. In my deep drawer under the cooktop.

Brilliant. I'm having a "duh" moment for not thinking about separating my cooking and prep utensils until this moment right now. Some things are so obvious, and yet one gets stuck in a rut. So thanks for another idea to make my awesome kitchen even awesome-r!
