Hmmm..... I tend to disagree heartily with "he didn't think it was a very practical solution unless you are a fabricator".

Most of the countertops in my home are either marble or soapstone (guest bath is the only granite in the house), I would assume if he doesn't recommend marble he would surely 'dis' soapstone.

Bummer for the folks who ask his opinion on alternative surfaces.

The pros on the bathroom forum explain how to hone marble, but they do say its harder to really polish well again.

It sounds like something I'd still try though on a piece of marble.
