Danby marble test

I received samples of Imperial and Eureka and spilled some wine and lemon juice on them for 5 minutes. Here are the results. The Eureka sample came out ahead for whatever that's worth. The larger spot is the red wine, the smaller, the lemon juice. The stain seemed pronounced immediately after wiping on both, but today (less than a day later) has faded on both but the etching is clear and the stain is still somewhat noticeable on the Imperial sample. I took the photos in front of a north facing window to catch some light.

Does anyone know if the samples are generally not sealed?

I would ask your stone supplier about the sample. You can also take the sample in and have them rub a little sealer on it, so you'll know for sure that it's sealed.

I doubt they sealed the samples. I sealed my samples with 511 and no staining. Etching, yes, but no staining.

My Danby marble has been installed a year. Etching but no staining. I have the feeling that I could mush a little 'make shiny' stuff and get rid of the etching, but I don't care about the etching. yet. and maybe never.

We have imperial. I have no worries on stains once it was sealed. I sealed it with meta cream. It etches. It etches very easily. It's marble. It is known. The plus is that it is honed. When I get an etch that I can't stand, 600 and 800 grit sand paper allows me to remove the etching.

Does anyone feel comfortable sharing the price per sq ft (usually includes install etc) they are getting for Danby marble? I went to a stoneyard today and fell in love with some slabs of honed Eureka (I think) Danby Marble but I am waiting for the price quotes to come back from the fabricator....

Eureka Danby has been installed for a little over a year. Some small etches but no staining.

I have montclair, have it "permanently sealed" and have had no stains, just etches. It etches easily. My Montclair is honed and it has a rougher surface than say a carrerra or a calacatta, so you don't even notice the etches. I have only had it a month, but have had two large parties and no stains.
