Not quite ivory tiles (a little browner than ivory?) Do you have enough left over tiles to do a few sample boards?

I would consider my tiles ivory or cream. They are also handmade. I took my tiles into a tile store and matched the grout to the tile.

The grout I'm using is very expensive so that would be over $50 for each board....it feels hard to justify.

What?!! You mean the tiles, right? When you make sample boards you can easily reuse the tiles. I used double-sided sticky tape to secure the tiles to the sample board (DH used 3/4" plywood, sized to fit under upper cabinets) and then just grouted. Then when you want to take it apart you just chip the grout right off with a screw driver, then pull up the tiles. Really, easy!

Actually I meant the grout. It's $55 (built-in sealer, crack resistant, color-consistent). A proverbial drop in the bucket compared to the cost of the tile. That is, so long as I get the color right the first time!

I have plenty of leftover tiles, although I had not thought of your approach --which is a good one.
