pics of white cabinets with light counters?

| I picked caesarstone cinder for my counters (haven't officially ordered them yet, though) and I will have mostly white cabinets. My kitchen is very small and I thought that the light would be good-- the cinder is a light grey with a touch of greenish-blue to it.
Now I think I need to see some similar kitchens to make sure I'm not making a mistake. People here talk about "pop" which this I guess won't, although my walls are sag harbor grey, which should be renamed olivey olive olive, at least on my walls. So the white/cinder will pop in comparison to the wall. Is that ok? I love the way a lightish blue-grey looks with olive, and stainless will be pretty with the wall color, too.
Thoughts/opinions/horrified gasps? Places where I can see white cabinets with light counters??
thanks! |

| Well, here's a nice effective one, right here. Also, if you search for any of the marble kitchens, many of those have light countertops. Me, I don't want my kitchen to pop (hate that overused term, anyway), so I love light cabinets with light countertops. Nesting12, how did you find the pricing for Caesarstone compared to other materials? |
RE: pics of white cabinets with light counters?
| | |
| I've found the pricing for caesarstone to be the same as other quartz (although I hear Zodiac is a little bit more but I didn't price it), around the same as the cheaper granites, less than the expensive granites, and a little cheaper than stainless. I think one of the really less expensive granites, like black galaxy, is a smidge cheaper than caesarstone. That's been my experience, at least! The sealing might make them come out the same in the long run (since cs doesn't have sealing). I didn't want granite because I don't want a dark counter, I don't think, in such a small space, and the lighter granites remind me of tombstones! It's this weird thing I have. Also I have some environmental issues with using stone that come and go with my mood. I love marble but I would destroy it instantly and anyway my kitchen cabinets are very modern and it might look weird. Looks-wise, limestone is my favorite but again my daughter and I would destroy it. I think both of those are more expensive than stainless, but I never priced them. |

| Thanks, that's interesting. Caesarstone is hard to find around here, but silestone and Cambria are both much more than any but the most expensive granites. I guess it depends on where you are. |

| Wow, writersblock, whereabouts is that? nesting, I'm totally with you. We're starting in about a week and I'll have off-white cabs with a beigy quartz. Have narrowed it down to two colors, one Caesarstone, one Silestone. I don't like most granite, don't want black or really dark. A pale soapstone might do, but too much work and expense. Yours sounds like a nice combo. Go to the finished kitchens blog and do the slideshow. There are a few similar to your description. You can click thru it fast and stop when something catches your eye, I found that helpful. It will look great, I think. Here are a couple I've found. The first one is from here, her username is arin.

| >Wow, writersblock, whereabouts is that? East central FL. I can get granite from about $25 sq ft installed, but the cheapest silestone is $70 sq ft. Cambria is more because it's only available from Lowes here. |

| I'm the poster that's currently obsessed with Redroze's kitchen- she went with a fairly light granite: http://sites.google.com/site/redrozewebsite/Home Love it!!! |

| Granite for $25 sq ft? Are they stealing it from nearby houses?? I have never heard of that price. Yes, Caesarstone is more than that. But, then, so is formica. I love those kitchens-- keep them coming! I'm feeling inspired... |

| I notice in most of these, the contrast is there, just more understated than the large color block opposite counter/cabinet thing, if that makes sense. I see contrast in flooring, backsplashes, and hardware. They strike me as serene and liveable. |

| > I have never heard of that price. You doubtless don't live in the third-most-economically-depressed area in the US. Seriously, between the total lack of business and the big trend away from granite at the highest end (where the only work for those guys is right now), in a few more months I figure they'll pay you to put granite in your kitchen. :) |
prefab
| | |
| I should say that I presume they're starting from prefab on the cheapest stones, but even a mid-range granite templated to order and cut from slab is ~$50ish these days around here. There's just soooo much inventory and far too many places opened during the frenzy. Many have closed, but I could still spend a couple of days in our little town going from stoneyard to stoneyard. |

I love white kitchens, they are timeless. I wish I had some pictures for you with silestone grey cinder. Perhaps these could help you imagine white with light counters. ~boxerpups Jest Mist granite but perhaps it looks like your grey kindle silestone

| I love those kitchens! Yes, very serene. I wonder what the countertop is in that last picture-- so serene and pretty. Any guesses what it is? I also just love that close up of the bridge faucet. I'm just in love with bridge faucets, maybe in part because it just wouldn't work in my space. At any rate, I think that those soothing greys look terrific with white, at least to me! Thanks so much, you all! |

Hi Writersblock, I am so glad you liked the pics. I was not sure if it could help Nesting12. But figured at least looking at the grey and white combo was a nice way to visualize her own kitchen. Thanks for the comment. ~boxerpups Hi Nesting12, Here is the link to the blog. Maybe they know the specific brand, color, type of counter in the picture you like. There is a spot to respond to the blog. Wishing you luck. If I see any more pics, I will post. ~boxerpups http://kitchendetails.wordpress.com/2009/02/18/white-beach-kitchen-sof

| Writersblock, what are they doing in high end kitchens instead of granite? I'm curious! Boxerpups, thanks! I am going to spend some time on that blog... |
RE: pics of white cabinets with light counters?

| More exotic and fragile stones, marble, quartz is becoming popular (one reason the price is still so high compared to granite) especially in very modern style kitchens, very costly recycled materials, concrete, and even laminate. Now in other parts of the country where more traditional taste prevails, it's probably different, but FL has always gone for the more modern look in kitchens in higher end designs. I think for countertops the idea is to make as much trouble for the maids as you possibly can. :) |

Hi, I am the designer of the pix you mention above. The countertops are also ceasarstone, misty carrera which is a knock off of the more traditional white carerra marble but much easier upkeep. There are more pix of this kitchen and other kitchens on my website: www.indetailkitchenandbath.com or blog: kitchendetails.wordpress.com I hope this helps you! |

| Thank you ckcdetail! I really appreciate it! Can't wait to look at everything... I love the way that whole kitchen looks. Really beautiful. |
RE: pics of white cabinets with light counters?

| You bet! I think you might like the misty carrerra but the cinder is nice also..just not much movement but that might be what you like about it. I am familiar with the sag harbor gray also and you are so right! It is olive not gray at all. I have a kitchen on the site that has this wall color too. The blue lagos is also nice but darker than cinder. I specify at least half my work with quartz countertops. I am sooo over granite for the most part and there are so many new quartz colors coming out. The kit and bath show had a ton of new ones from ceasarstone, silestone and also several recycled glass top options like vetrazzo. Keep in touch with my blog as we are ramping up to post every two days on new items for your home. |

RE: pics of white cabinets with light counters? ps

| Oh-- which kitchen has that wall color? That would be really helpful! Do you think the cinder goes well with the color? I loved them when I held up the sample of cs to the sample of sag harbor on the wall, but that isn't a perfect way to know. I have to admit I was shocked when my contractor sent me photos of the walls after they were painted (I am away while they do the kitchen) but I think in the end I'm going to like having so much color. I think! thanks-- your blog is amazing. Lots of good inspiration. |
RE: pics of white cabinets with light counters?

| Thanks!! The kitchen is called Bayou Beauty(I think ) on my site. It is really hard to tell the color though on these pix. So prob will not help you. Good luck! I think the cinder will look good! |

| I love gray and want to work it in somewhere. Maybe the flooring or kitchen table. Your combination will look great! |
