Hi there! Very excited to be new to this forum! Framing has just started on our house, and I have found what I think is a lovely soapstone for the kitchen counter. It is only bothering me that I can't figure out what variety we are looking at. I have not found many vendors who know much about soapstone in my geographical area. This stone has been described to me as "original soapstone". I'm attaching a photo of the showroom stone, which was oiled once many months ago and was wet for this photo. The other picture is from the actual slab, neither wet nor oiled. We did wet it down and it seemed to have more green to it then the showroom stone and the showroom stone seemed harder, but not sure if these things will change with oil/time. I do believe the vendor that the showroom piece and slab are of the same origin, but think it is probably piece-to-piece variability. Thanks for any input!!!
