Extra 10% + Tiered Discounts+ A bunch of free stuff ++

From now through July 11th, if you make a cabinet purchase at Lowes, you get a rebate VISA gift card for 10% of the net total (gross minus the other discounts.) Those other discounts include an already pretty aggressive instant discount program ($400-$10,000) based on total price, as well as each manufacturer throwing in a bunch of freebies. AND, the new 5% cash back if you use your Lowes card also applies. So, you could end up with around 20-25% off of a cabinet order right about now. It's one of the best deals I've EVER seen for cabinets!

So, if you're interested in Shenendoah, Kraftmaid, Diamond, or Schuler, it's time to hurry up and finalize those plans and get in on the savings. There's some pretty nice deals on countertops as well, with some special order purchases, but nothing as spectacular as the cabinet deals.

This is very similar to what HD was offering last summer. They offered %off based on total in July and in again in August, but the August deal was somewhat less-we ordered in August. The discount wasn't a Visa card return, though, it was money off the top. The various lines also offered "free" stuff, which can be very good if you need things like finished ends and that's the current offer. It seemed to me that a "free" sink base was pretty standard. Those of you using local kitchen shops, do they do similar things?

I know InnerMost is 10% off until July 2. We're interested in cabinets for the bedroom, so we need to make up our minds by then. Sometimes a simple yes or no is a hard decision.

With the max discounts are any of those cabinet lines comparable in price to Ikea?

No, there really isn't anything out there that is decent quality that is comparable in price to Ikea. Ikea is a standalone category for quality and price. If you do find cabinets as inexpensive as Ikea, then they are most likely crappy Chinese sourced. However, Ikea needs to be assembled, and that will up their price by 20% if you have to pay a pro to do that for you. Not that they are difficult to assemble, but you're not really comparing avacadoes to avacadoes here unless you factor in either that labor or that labor fee.

However, Shenendoah will be one of the lowest priced cabinet lines that you can find that is still decent quality and semi customizable and that you don't have to put together yourself. The rate very highly in the JD Power customer satisfaction survey. And there are a LOT more sizes and configurations available rather than Ikea's limited selection. With the current promos, and with you comparing exact sizes to exact sizes, you won't be that far apart in pricing if you have to pay for Ikea assembly labor. But, Shenendoah has 27", 33", 39" etc. wide wall cabinets as well as 42" high cabinets and the ability to order 15" deep cabinets as well as order them glass ready and supply your own glass rather than be imprisoned to Ikea's limited sizes and glass door offerings. Etc.
