electrical outlet question

OK, I know this sounds silly but I didn't want to bug my GC or the electrician until I asked the experts at GW.

When the electrician was doing some rewiring for the new appliances I had him change all the outlets to a horizontal position. This was many weeks ago and he installed them to be flush with the wall. Now that the tile is about to be installed I realize they need to be extended a bit to be flush with the tile rather than the wall.

Who does this? Do the tile installers make this correction or do I have to call the GC to get the electrician back? I actually did this myself many years ago but I do not remember what I did.

My tile guys did it. I dont know if that is standard or not.

We were in the same situation this weekend. Since the rest of our project is done, my DH bought longer screws and did it himself.

Buy the box extenders at any local box store. Don't just use longer screws. It's a minor thing, but it's a safety thing.

You might have adjustable boxes. Mine have screws on the side which, when loosened, allow the box to be pulled forward to adjust to the thickness of the backsplash.
