Does anyone have any recommendations for custom cabinet makers and/or good kitchen designers in southeast michigan?

Thanks!

No, but I can recommend Ayr cabinetry out of Nappanee Indiana and they are close enough to work with. We are in NE Illinois and worked with them so you would be closer.

Pioneer just did my custom cabinets for my island. They are a Michigan company and did a beautiful job! My kitchen designer was Dawn Bluga of Stonebridge Kitchens & Baths out of Wixom.

Here's my cabinets only: Photobucket

And here's the completed island:

Also, we used Pascucci Marble & Granite (also Wixom) for our marble. They were precise, particular, helpful and very fair on their prices. Loved them and hope to use them again!

My cabinets are being made by Hollywood Cabinets in Shelby Township, MI. Tony is the owner and I've worked directly with him.

I know that I've been the most anal and indecisive customer but they have been patient throughout the entire process.

I second what loves2cook4six said about Ayr Custom Cabinetry. Take the time to find the pics of loves kitchen. NOt just the overall look but the nitpicky detail-the toekick drawers for example.

Ayr did a marvelous job on my kitchen, too. They will measure, design and nothing is too difficult. They will solve any problem, beautifully and functionally. MY 15 inch wide pullout pantries hold over 400 pounds of stuff. Sorry, I have not posted pics. Ken Miller really listens and transforms your ideas, and gives you new ideas.

I should have asked about prices. I looked at the ayr website and it looks amazing but are they really expensive?

My cabs were $5429 (the KD also gets her money out of that).

Does anyone know any good companies that are reasonably priced? I keep reading on here about people that found custom cabinets for less that big box but have not had that luck. I wish I, too, could use dutchwood. They sound amazing.

Miffy - what cabinets are you looking for? Your whole perimeter, a perimeter and island, just and island, uppers and lowers? And what price for that amount of cabinets is reasonable to you? Have you already priced them at Home Depot and/or Lowes? What kind of price did you get there? I guess it would be more helpful to know what you are looking for.

The price on my cabinets for my island that I shared above included the Kitchen Designer's cut (that's how she gets paid) and the cabinets are 10'x3' (or maybe 11'x3'). Soft close drawers were standard. That also included custom posts/legs on the 4 corners, door panels on both ends, furniture bases on all except the working side, 4 glass drawers with inserts inside (to put real stuff behind the pretty stuff showing in the glass), and a paint color I chose from Sherwin Williams that they matched. They also made the front panel designs bigger on the drawer fronts so my cup pulls would fit. Can't think if there was more involved.

Miffy -

I am also in Southeast MI and ordered my cabinets a couple of weeks ago. I had great luck driving my prices down by working between a couple smaller KD places. I looked at 3 semi-custom lines, Brookhaven, Medallion and Dura-Supreme and the prices kept getting lower and lower as I went between the two KD's. In addition, their prices on Cambria were $1200 different for my small kitchen! Shop around and you can get more for your money.

Here is the website for Al's cabinets - A few friends used Al and their kitchens are stunning!

Not sure you will get pricing less that a box store but possibly less than some of the middle to upper end versions
