paint color Q for dutch wood customers

So after negotiating permission from my building for apartment renovations for 5 years (in NYC), we are finally getting started. I have been reading all your wonderful posts all that time! You have led me to dutch wood and we are very excited.

I have a question about the paint choices. We are doing white painted cabs and from their choices the sail white seemed right for us, but I know it isn't very expensive to ask for a BM instead. Did anyone consider their stock colors or see and have a thought about their sail white as compared to BM Dove white or others many folks choose?

Thanks so much!

I was very familiar with the BM colors and since it wasn't alot to upgrade to that, I did that and he will do a sample door for me, but there deck has alot of colors as well, Bee used 3 colors from one of the strips, I know one was called London Fog.

Thanks very much. He is doing the sample door for me in the sail white. Maybe I can ask for a second sample piece in a BM color - which white are you using?

Then I can compare in the space. There will be new lighting but the natural lighting is at least the same.

Hi! I am also a dutchwood customer. Aren't we lucky?

Michelle16 or 5years later: What do you think the sail white is similar to? I am going up there tomorrow and the first time up there I got a few samples but sail white was not one of them. Is it on the creamier side but still white?
I am looking for white but not stark white.

5yearslater: what color did you end up choosing?

We did glacier white in our DW kitchen if that helps to give anyone another color to look at :)

Hi! Yes, so glad to have found them!

They haven't started to build our cabs yet so I haven't committed. We did speak about a door sample so I will go that route and check it out in my space. They had another white in the showroom that was much more yellow when viewed against sail white. At the same time, sail white still seemed to have some warmth. But, I'd still like to see sail white again and wish I could compare with some of the whites others have chosen on the board.

I didn't think of asking for a small sample board while there, but that would be a good idea. I expect I'll be going back at least one more time with lots of new ideas for them. I asked Jason about making me a wall of built in closets and it looks like that will be my next project - before I even begin the first.

Beagle - is glacier one of DW's standards or did you ask them to make it from a BM or other paint brand?

I sent them a paint swatch of a color I liked, and I *think* they had it color matched by the paint company that they used. They sent me some samples with several different glazes and I picked the one I liked. Can you ask them if they can match the BM color that you like?

I was at dutchwood on Friday. I looked at the ML Campbell fan deck but there are very few whites. Those that I did see were either too gray or too creamy/off white. I also drove over to see Beekeepers kitchen. Even better in person!, BTW, she has Mendocino on her wall cabs and I think London fog on the island. It reads as white for sure but I still think it tends to gray. It is perfect in her Kitchen with the gray island and super white counters. I painted two pieces of poster board on Thursday. One is white dove the other is cloud white. To tell you the truth I cannot see a big difference between the two but am leaning toward Cloud white. They will match any color for an up charge of $175.

I forgot to ask about a sample door. I will ask when I email him on Monday with a few more changes. I feel like such a pain-keep making more and more changes!!
