Cabinets going in!! (pics)

The kitchen cabinet installation was started yesterday. It's so exciting to see the kitchen start to come together (for those who don't know, this is a new build kitchen, not a reno). Ignore the red floor in the photos - it is just the paper that is protecting the tile on the floor.

I forgot to get photos of the cooktop penisula. We may have to drive out there again tonight so I can see what progress they make today!

A couple of the doors seem to be hinged on the wrong side (or maybe I just don't like having them hinged that way) and hopefully the KD will get his guys to change the hinges on those doors. For example, the tall slanted end cabinet to the right of the refrig opening has all 4 doors hinged on the right and I think the 2 doors on the left need to be hinged on the left so the doors open up wider.

The granite is supposed to be templated on Monday and then installed 2 weeks after that...

Congrats, bellsarus. We're also doing a new build, but our drywall just went up so it will be a couple more months before we get to the point you're at now. It IS exciting though, isn't it? I love to drive out to our new place. It certainly makes coming back to our current rental that much more depressing.

Lovely wood. Is it cherry?

Hi sdionnemoore - Thanks! Yes, the cabinets are cherry. I expect they will darken quite a bit over the next few months.

bellsrus your cherry cabinets look the same color as my custom stained maple ones. Like you, I've got my boxes in, but none of my fronts or pullouts yet. My granite was already templated, but I met the fabricator today at the stone place to physically layout the templates on the stone. I wanted the best movement on the granite to be on my island. I should have the install next Wed. My big challenge now is the reveal for the sink. Just made a post on this as my fabricator is trying to sway me to a negative reveal which I'm just now sure about. Anyway, I'm running at the mouth! :) Look forward to seeing more pics as everything progresses and I need to get mine up on the forum too. Good luck!

boysrus2 -- Are you doing a reno, or a new build? I haven't decided yet whether to go to the granite fabricator's when they lay out the templates on the granite. With the verde butterfly granite in the kitchen, there isn't that much variation that it would matter a whole lot. The master bath granite (tsunami) has more variation and I'm trying to decide whether I want to be there when they lay out the templates. What kind of granite will you have?

That cherry's gorgeous, Bellsrus, and is going to look wonderful as it ages against the greenery outside. I'm looking forward to more pictures as it all comes together.

The windows are wonderful...Are those awning windows? Or casements?

ci_lantro -- the windows are Pella pro-line casement windows. If there is one thing this new house has a lot of it is windows!
