I seem to recognize the kitchen depicted in this eBay listing - isn't this a Gardenweb member's kitchen from right before I joined, c. 2008? It looks very familiar to me, although I could be wrong. Well, now it's commemorated forever on eBay.

Regrange's. ModernAire is even using that photo on its own web site. How cool is that?
|
Redrange, the picture came recently up in the (moderately) colourful thread.

Redrange! Thanks! I adore that kitchen, and she was definitely ahead of her time. Not to be confused with Barb Collins' infamous REDRUM kitchen, of course. :-)

You are so right, CP. I remember when I was first contemplating my own reno and came across Redrange's kitchen. I was instantly hooked on her bold use of color! Not so sure that she was "ahead of her time" so much as she was willing to stand out from the crowd, and to follow her own design drummer. What an inspiration!

Circuspeanut, did you ever post pictures of your final kitchen? I have seen the recent post of your awesome stove and adjacent counter, and I believe the island long ago, but any more? I would love to see them.

Ha, Claybabe, thanks for remembering my kitchen -- yours (and yours, too, Marthavila!) was such a great inspiration to me. I've actually never posted mine in any entirety on here, waiting for all the little bits to be done; plus I rather shy away from "reveal" threads. It seems too late to really post a reveal after using it for 3 years, but on the other hand it might also be a goodbye reveal ... because ... ... as luck would have it, we just signed on a whole NEW old Craftsman house -- complete with almost untouched 1910 kitchen to be remodeled! There's some original slate countertop! And heart pine cabinets with wavy glass! And a butler's pantry! Cross your fingers for me that all goes well with the closing. I'll do a post on my new project soon, soliciting ideas for the small and truly odd-shaped kitchen space I'll be working with (!) -- just as soon as the plague leaves our house. Both I and my partner have been struck down with the Endless 2-Week Flu, yuck, and we seem to keep almost getting better then sliding back into it. Ugh. I'm working at home for the summer so it's not as bad for me, but he's really missed a lot of work. Seems to be a dire bug going around up here in Maine.

Whos, CP! Moving on to a whole NEW house with a heartstopping, century old kitchen intact? Whoa! First of all, I can't believe you are leaving that marvelous kitchen of yours behind. (As you know, it's always been one of my faves.) At the same time, the new house and kitchen you describe sound out of this world. That's just the kind of project to keep me here lurking.LOL! BTW, good luck on "the plague" and my wishes for you and your SO's quick recovery!

barbcollins, I noticed you posting in a different thread recently and wondered what happened to the REDRUM kitchen! Amen to marching to a different design drummer! I love the wide range of kitchens we get to peek at on GW. I don't recall seeing Redrange's kitchen before the 'moderately colorful' thread.
