Above my stove I now have an ugly white metal vent that works ok, and a small, 2 door cabinet. I'd like to somehow build in the vent and make it look a little classier. I can picture a little mantle or shelf with corbels under each side, but have no idea where to start with the mechanical parts. Do they sell "innards" for a hood, or do I need to take mine apart. Doesn't sound real neat. This seems like the perfect time to do this as I am getting new countertops/backsplash and painting the cabinets.
