We were at the stone yard today & my DD kept going back to the Biaco Romano, which was one of the very few that had a leathered finish. It was beautiful and she loved the feel of the finish.

My opinion, based on looking at other varieties with similar colors, was that the less shiny finish made the garnet less prominent. My concern was how difficult it would be to clean because of the texture, but maybe that's not a problem if it's properly sealed.

Thanks amck! I love the feel too. You are fortunate to see a whole slab finished that way. I can only get little bits and pieces. All the slabs around here are polished. It's very difficult to see differences since every slab is different. I do plan to do some testing on the different finishes to see if they stain. Good luck to your DD.

I love my Bianco Romano. For the first few years I did keep thinking that the reddish spots near the stove were spilled cinnamon though :D

It's an absolutely bulletproof stone, no worries at all regarding staining or etching. Mine's polished so I can't comment on other finishes.
