Allen + Roth quartz countertops from Lowes?

vishg

Hi,

These are Lowes branded series of quatrz countertops from Sage Surfaces. Would love to hear any opinion/experience you may have with these. Everyone reiterates that quality wise all brands are same. I went to a Lowes that had a sale on Allen Roth that dropped the price to about $52. Compare this to Cambria that I can't seem to find less than $100. Even allowing for cost implications of color/pattern mix, the difference in price is quite puzzling for items that are inherently of similar quality...

Thanks.

Hi Visgh - we put A&R/Lowes quartz in last fall and LOVE them! We searched around and even the guy at the local lumber yard told us the quality was the same. The big box stores buy so much of it nationally, that they can afford to offer such a good deal. Very overwhelming isn't it? Let me know what you decide. Good luck!

Dont forget to try and use a 10% movers coupon and possibly 5% for a lowes credit card.

I tried to use a 10% movers coupon for counters, but was told that it was not applicable to that. I could use it on carpet (but not the installation) but the counters were apparently a different deal with an outside vendor. Even the A&R brand.

Be sure to add in any "extra" charges for sink cutouts edging etc. With granite I found HD and Lowes to be more expensive due to extra charges. The SF price was lower than the the other granite yard but once you added in the extra charges it was more.

I wasn't impressed by Lowes or HD. By the time I factored in the price for cut outs, etc., they wound up being more expensive than my local stone yard. And at the stone yard, I have a much wider selection than I would ever find at the big box stores.

The same is true for the big box bathroom countertops, incidentally. And - I can get a nice wooden counter top for the bathroom for less than I would pay at the stone yard or the big box store. Of course, wood - in this case black walnut - isn't for everyone, but it will be unique and should hold up well.

No, the Allen And Roth counters are NOT Silestone, which is manufactured in Spain. A&R is made in Korea.

Biggest mistake we ever made was to get A&R quartz countertops. Ours is starting to breakdown after less than 2 years. All they say is that we must have dropped something on it or mistreated it in some way, which we did not. Would NOT recommend.

I know this thread is a bit old however I was hoping for some feedback/advice from anyone that has used Allen Roth quartz counters. I fell in love with AR Titanium Swell but I'm a bit hesitant due to the lack of information about the quality of AR quartz. I have looked at other quartz but I can't find anything similar to the AR Titanium Swell. Any advice is greatly appreciated! I need to make a decision soon!

Check out Hanstone Quartz. I'm pretty sure they make the Sage Surface products but would probably never admit to that or tell you which of their colors is a match to the one you like. I really liked the A&R Smokey Crest and found the Hanstone Fusion as a match.

We purchased a Allen and Roth Steel Surge from Lowes who subcontracted it out. 3 Days after it was installed I noticed some rough spots. And now I am dealing with major issues. I DO NOT recommend this product. I am in the process of trying to rectify this issue or I would say more. Please really do not purchase this. The stones will develop cracks. I have only used soap and water and do all my prep on my slide in stove...that is how much I am afraid of damaging my 6 month old counter. Criminal!

    Kelly,

Sorry to hear of your A&R quartz issues. I appreciate the warning. I find it criminal, too, considering Lowe's has A&R Titanium Swell at the same price point as Silestone Pulsar.

Kelly, cracks in quartz are most likely due to faulty installation.

Camberia is one of the top Quartz companies in the world. All made is the USA

Silestone is second. Spain and Brazil. good warranty and great product.

Allen and roth is all Asian made not good and damages easy.

I have 20 years experience with stone and work for a large company with California. We use all major brands except Allen and Roth. Side not Lowes pulled Allen and roth solid surface line at lowes because of all the problems. Any questions feel free to ask away!

I just installed an Allen+Roth engineered quartz top in my bathroom that comes with the vanity base. In reading the manual, there is a LOT of things that are common in a bath like soap and fragrance that will cause the top to degrade. Somehow, in the last few days, something has eaten into the surface and there are now permanent spots. In calling both Lowes and Allen+Roth, they have no information about any product that can now be put on the top to cover, hide, fix or diminish these spots. Does anyone know of something that can be used on engineered quartz that will not make to problem worse? I had no idea this stuff was so fragile. A+R customer service is the worst, btw!

So now that you've had a+r quartz, how do you like it?

It's been quite the ride and I am now in the "never, ever again" phase. Because A+R was worthless, I pressured Lowes to replace it. But, 1st they ordered the wrong size and then they ordered the wrong material. They had to take them both back and finally, they got us the right unit. I felt sorry for the plumber who had contracted with Lowes to do the work because they were caught in the middle of all the back and forth. I was told it is difficult to get Lowes to pay for the useless trips to our house. Anyway, once they got the right unit in there, another engineered quartz vanity top, it started making those exact same spots again! Now, upon going back to Lowes with this, they have agreed to a full refund; but, the time and stress has been over the top! I have to start over from scratch to get a vanity top that will not do this from someone else. I can assure you it will not be a big-box store. In fact, based on this and other nightmares with Home Depot, I am only using these retailers for nails and light switches!

So far I have not seen one good thing about a&r kind of scary because it's what I'm looking at to put in my kitchen

@jamarner - did you ever get to install A&R quartz at your house? Thanks.

A&R is Hanstone with 1000 layers attempting to obscure that fact. It is supposedly made on Breton machines. That’s murky too.

Thank you. I am googling Hanstone now to see what I can find out about the q1uality of the stone.

Allen +Roth makers Sage LLC the worst company to deal with, Warranty are worthless , they don’t stand behind it, Don’t buy from this product from this company or through Lowe’s or anybody else

all of you that say allen and roth is garbage must have some underlying issues or have not been told how to care for a natural stone product. I've indirectly sold hundreds of countertops from big box stores and have yet to have anybody complain or come to me with issues on quality. but I make sure my customers know how to properly take care of the stone and I personally make sure to go check cabinets for level before the template.

We ordered Solid surface countertops for our newly installed cabinets. We selected the fastest track surface. Guaranteed within 10 days after measurement. We are 3 weeks past when they wanted payment at Lowe's and we haven't been measured yet. Also we were informed the fast track ad wasn't in effect yet???????? Crazy ridiculous.

I am wondering if half of these issues could be due to the company who cuts and forms the counter tops

I wish I'd read these comments before trusting Lowe's with my countertop install. I saved for 2 years to buy new countertops and wasted it on a dishonest company. The Lowe's store "specialist" handed me Allen & Roth fast track program flyers and said everything is done online. A & R fast tract means nothing. The program states 10 days, the store personnel said 15 days or less. My install took 59 days and ended up with a mismatched seam. Lowe's Sage Surfaces brought a large slab of granite (they called a free cutting board) to cover the mismatched seam. It's so heavy I can't move it. I was contacted later by Lowe's customer service and offered a 10% discount to "make it right". I have learned the hard way that Lowe's cannot or will not deliver on any promise or guarantee and they don't understand the meaning of "Make It Right".
