A New Take on the Revolving Corner Cabinet....

lee676

There are at least a half-dozen types of corner base cabinets that try to make the space inside accessible, with revolving round shelves behind a diagonal door, revolving pie-slice shelves behind a two-panel hinged door, a two-panel door that's attached to the shelves and swings around with them, and sliding shelves that move from the blind corner when the door is opened being the most common solutions.

But I've never seen anything quite like this before:

The entire round butcher-block top revolves with the cabinet, and the interior lights up when opened. Neat!

Has anyone here seen/used these, and do you know where I can get one?

That's crazy. I too would like to know who makes them; it looks like perhaps more efficient use of space than a regular corner susan cabinet.

you need to have the space for the angle to use that tho.

here's another one I found recently - by diamond cabs. it's divided into sections that then slide out for better access:

Found it on a Google search. No price.

That would work perfect into my kitchen plans.

I think it is cool and would work OK if you have a small opening. However, if you have a large opening with a hinged door, then access to heavy items such as small appliances would be much easier with a standard SS. The one that DesertSteph posted looks like it would give better access as well.

I love that first one. If I didn't have a range right next to my corner, I'd try to find it.

I'm obsessed with finding out about this so I've been searchign incessantly. Hafele makes it:
    {{!gwi}}

I think it ran around $900 but that may have been without the doors

I found it! It was called the "Step-saving Kitchen". The film is around 13 minutes, but it is really clever!

lee676, I believe it is a Valcucine cabinet. If it's not a Valcucine, then the unit in your photo is a kissin' cousin. It also comes in a full-length height. I wish it was in our budget. *Sigh*

Shelayne, that film's a hoot, but there are some interesting ideas to mine. Thanks for the link!

Hafele generally makes cabinet hardware and fittings (think: a higher-end version of Rev-A-Shelf), not complete cabinets; they sell their wares mostly to cabinetmakers, so there may be several manufacturers with that same basic design.

A closer look at the pictures show that the countertop surface doesn't appear to revolve, although it looks like it could be made to. That may be a good thing.

Anyone who wants more info can check out the blog from someone who recently installed these and where I first saw them, and ask there....

Lee- that is an amazing corner cabinet! I have drawers planned for my corner- but this one is tempting!

Shelayne- that was 13 enjoyable minutes- my grandmother and mother did not have kitchens like that in the 40's and 50's! Thank you very much for the link. Have passed it on to my sister who is a KD.

I too am also searching for the corner revolving unit. It is mainly the silver coloured door that has broken on mine and I need a replacement .

Cool function, but I don't think I like the look of the space-aged silver door against those traditional wooden cabinets.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that cutting board is not the top of the cabinet; rather, it's just sitting in the corner, and it could be lifted away for washing. I think I like that. I bet it's expensive.

Actually, I read an article somewhere when I was looking into this interesting looking cabinet years ago that the cutting board was screwed into place, it could not be moved and it was a complete pain… and in that article the homeowner eventually got rid of the cabinet.

Please help! The silver fronted revolving door is be oken on mine and the original manufacturer has told me that the model is obsolete and they are not able to replace the door. I really do not want or am able to afford a whole new kitchen. Can anyone help me with a replacement door or a suitable alternative please?

I think a custom cabinet shop could build one. Hope you find somebody.
