I had a painted mural in my old kitchen before I renovated last year. I posted pictures of my new kitchen last year and way down in the post, there are pictures of my old kitchen which show a pretty good view of the murals I had. I bumped that post for you (before I re-read your title and realized that you were asking about tile murals).

Basically, I had a painted landscape above the counter throughout the whole kitchen. It was even under the counter eating area and on doors to the pantry and adjoining rooms. It was done by a very talented decorative painter that I know. I had that kitchen for twelve or thirteen years and never got tired of the mural. And if I had tired of it, I could have painted over it easily. And there was no grout to clean.

We went with Stone Impressions. They can do just about anything in any size. We got this for 1/2 price in December. It is inspired by a french tapestry.

I'm all into early last century nostalgia/vintage ambiance. I found this 1920's can label from a dealer and bought it.

I re-worked the graphic from a high res scan and had a mural made from the graphic.

I ordered this from aristophanes murals....they will also do your own photos on tile. They have a choice of tiles and finishes.

I love all the murals posted! When I see the beautiful tile artwork I wonder if I made the right decision in staying tone on tone. I absolutely love flowers and considered a basket or vase of flowers in the same colors as AnnieDeighnaugh's backsplash. I will just enjoy your beautiful pictures!

I'm doing this design, but in custom colors to match my kitchen. Still in the midst of building....
