I've seen such great assistance from folks on these threads, I'm hoping for some helpful critique on our new-build kitchen.

This is a floorplan based (somewhat losely) off of the Countryplans.com 2-story Universal Cottage plan.

Assume "up" is "North" for all the descriptions below:
- To the west is the mud room and door to the garage.
- To the south and west is the powder room. (with toilet out of site)
- To the south and east are the stairs to the basement.
- To the east is the family room.
- North of the table is a sliding door to an eventual deck.

Other good background to know:
- My wife and I both tend to be in the kitchen together and as such we tried to setup areas where we can both be doing stuff without bumping into each other.
- I was thinking range hood above the range and a microwave on the wall with the basement stairs.
- The dish and silverware storage would be in base cabinets in the island opposite the DW.
- Pots/pans and baking stuff would be in the base cabinets between the range and the sink.
- Uppers would be for cans, glasses, and "other".
- Two prep areas - 1.) between the range and the sink and 2.) the island.
- The section of base cabinets that is lower (30") is actually poised to be a desk (so no base cabinets there). I just can't make the program do what I want.
