I think you'd be safe buying it, based on the info from the manufacturer. However, why not ask the store if you can try cleaning off those marks before you buy? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. :) PS, I love that sink; is it a bargain?

I would make sure it's Silgranit II. Silgranit II is superior to the original Silgranit, which Blanco phased out several years ago. Since this is a display model, who knows how long it's been there. I don't know how to check that it's Silgranit ii - perhaps a serial number? Or call Blanco's customer service number - they are very helpful.

I would also compare this display model's price to what this model would cost brand new from a reputable website like qualitybath, faucetdepot or amazon. These sites don't charge for shipping, and you won't pay sales tax. Make sure the discount for the display model is sizable enough to make this display model a better choice than a new one.

Lastly, examine the display model with a flashlight for cracks. Silgranit sinks are really tough, but there have been cracks in the sinks reported that occur when they aren't installed, and have been handled roughly in transit--or perhaps on display.

Oh, thank you (both) I didn't even think about that it might be the original version of that sink. This is why I turn to GW!

At first I was very impressed by the cost. I almost bought it right then, except then I noticed those scratches. Their price is $270. I can order it on Amazon for $335, and I think my plumber can get it locally for a little bit lower than that. So, then the difference is $50-60.

If the sink will be undermounted, it is pretty permanent. Be sure you are truly OK with the display model for your $60 savings.
