Granite is infused with resin, a plastic. I know that bleach will yellow nylon, also a plastic. It's possible the bleach has chemically altered the resin, yellowing it. If bleach has never touched it, however, that would be rather magical. Did you look on the underside near the stain? Did they by chance use plumber's putty?

That may well be the case, but since Clorox never touched your granite, it must be something else, yes? Are they going to guarantee that their remedy will work? Because if their remedy works on Clorox stains and your's isn't a Clorox stain, it may not work for you.

Just as an update, it is a green bloom spot - caused most likely by the installers going a little too heavy on accelerator on a chip repair. Although the fabricator didn't admit this - they did deliver a "green blossom poultice kit" they ordered to help remove it - and at that point, finally admitted what they believed it was. The bleach/clorox story was just that... a story they were trying to push to not accept blame. In fact, they kit they purchased USES bleach to assist in removing the stain.

We've been working at the stain for weeks now, and while it has improved, it still isn't gone. What a mess!

I am sorry you are going through this trouble. Also note that Kashmir White is a very porous granite, not far from marble in its absorption rate and ability to hold a stain. Make sure to re-seal twice a year.

ChrisinSD - your sarcasm implies a sweeping generalization about the thousands of granites available. My granite counters have been in place for 8 years, with very hard use, no sealing. I chose a granite with a low absorption rate; the counters have been carefree and look like the day they were installed.
