food processers

just wondering how many people have and use a food processor? I am talking about the large ones such as a KA 8 cup. Average use? every day? once a month?

why I ask... I watched QVC that was showing a K. A. and it got me thinking.

Thanks in advance,
Deb

I think most folks here are hand-choppers, just a guess. I have a 20-year old Zyliss manual chopper, built back when they were good, and a Swissmar Borner mandoline. Nothing to plug in, tho. Sometimes I think I might like one, but I fear it would become clutter. It will be interesting to see what others say.

I think it depends on your cooking needs and style.
I have an 11 cup Cuisinart that I use about twice a month.
It's just the two of us so I hand chop most things.
But if I'm cooking for a crowd or making certain things, I couldn't work without it.

I use my cuisinart several times a week. It's a 7 cup model, I think. I've had it for 14 years. Pie crust, shredding cheese or grating large quantities of anything, pasta dough, thin sliced potatoes and carrots, baby food making (4 kids worth!), endless uses! I also have a cuisinart mini prep that's been making daily morning smoothies (among other tasks like grinding parmesan cheese) for about 3 years now.

I have a Cuisinart but it is quite small. There are only two of us, so it works well for us and I use it regularly. If I had to drag out a large food processor, I don't think I'd use it nearly as often, if ever. I also have a small chopper that fits on the end of my stick blender and I use that thing constantly for chopping onions, garlic, herbs, nuts, etc.

I use my large 20 year old cuisinart about 2 times a year. We have a smaller one which I might use 4 times a year.

However, I use my mortar and pestle about once a week.

I use my Cuisinart several times a week. Not for chopping an onion or anything like that, but for making some cookies doughs, pie crusts, or chopping nuts into flour. I can't imagine not having it. Oh yeah, it's also great for shredding carrots or zucchini with the shredding attachment that comes with it.

I have had one in the past, but it always turned out to be more trouble to clean than the time it saved to use. I don't even recall what happened to it. The only thing I ever miss it for is grating carrots for carrot and raisin salad.

I still own a small one. I think one of the children left it here in one of those school-home-school-home-job moves. I use it maybe once or twice a year.

I have a big KA (12 years old and still going strong: replaced the work bowl once already) and use it more like Ellenandnco said; big prep for crowds or big soup, shredding things etc. Also I like the citrus juicer attachment and do use that quite a bit. I do make my pie crust in there as well. I wouldn't want to be without it even if I don't bring it out every day.

I have a KA 12 cup. I don't use it often; it's stored in the island cabinet. But when I do use it, I love it! It's been great recently for making pico.
