Specific floor to countertop color question

So we're finally going with hardwood in the kitchen!

To do so, the first step, we're having the birch hardwood floor refinished back to its natural state tomorrow in the living room (the floor is about 20 years old).

The kitchen and dining rooms are just a few steps down from the living room. We'll be putting pre-finished natural birch flooring to match the living room. I'm just wondering if it is too much a stretch to go with our first choice countertop, leathered absolute black granite, with the natural birch hardwood floor, it won't relate at all (light whitish vs well.. black). The cabs are white shaker.

Sounds fine to me, especially if you go with darker hardware....I think a nickel/chrome hardware would be too busy, as it would bring in a 4th shade.

Thanks for the feedback, we were going with brushed nickel pulls. We're gonna think about that.

I think that sounds great! In a light kitchen, black countertops add contrast and can look fantastic.

Well.. the sander finished our floor and mentioned that it is actually maple hardwood that we have! It was way too ambered for anyone to guess right. Select grade, he mentioned we could easily go with pacific/millrun grade in the kitchen and dining room.
