frameless cabinet question

I was talking to a KD yesterday who knew he wasn't going to sell me anything. The house I am looking to renovate is hundreds of miles away. I brought up frameless cabinets and he said they recommend that you only get frameless cabinet doors in MDF, not solid wood, because the wood expands and will cause problems with door clearance.
I have been researching frameless for several months now and have never heard or seen of this issue. I think he is full of it. With a 1/8 inch clearance and adjustable hinges I find this hard to believe.
Anyone know of anyone who has had wood door expansion causing problems closing the doors on frameless cabinets?
Thanks.
