Island Remodel & Cooktop (before & after)

Our original island was cabinets on the front and drywall on the sides and back. Cabinet space was lost from the GE downdraft cooktop. The counter was laminate. The new island trims the counter size, and puts cabinets and woodtrim all around. The new cooktop is a 36" Miele Induction. The counters are Hanstone Bavaria like the counters installed a few months back.

That was the old, here's the new.

It looks nice scrapula. I have the same cooktop and I have no doubt you'll love it. What set-up do you have for exhause with your new cooktop?

My exhaust will be an island hood, which is the next project going in. We hated the downdraft. It was not powerful enough to pull in all the steam. Hot air rises, so we want something over the unit.

Leaning towards the black Vent-a-Hood in the layer cake design. It's a 2 story house, so we need to drop the ceiling to hide the venting. Still getting bids on the job. Too small of a job for most remodelers. They are so picky!
