I have a vinyl coated backsplash paper now. I like wallpaper. I have it in several rooms.

My kitchen was wallpapered for over 21 years (probably much longer), and it was not vinyl composition that I could see when I pulled it off. I was able to wash it (gently!) repeatedly over the years. It still looked pretty good when I pulled it off -- but it had a medium blue background that probably hid stains if there were any.

You need to be sure that the paper is labeled as "washable".

I'm putting in a tile backsplash, so no worries there. This paper is washable, but I just feel a vinyl-coated paper would be more so.

I would have been more comfortable with a vinyl coated paper, too, but in this day and age with everything made out of a bowl full of chemicals the "wallpaper" could be bomb proof. The one I have now is vinyl coated. It was temporary when I put it up but it's still there!
