My wife and I are buying our first house, and are planning on installing a Thermador range. Our local code requires MUA for anything over 400CFM.

I really wanted a matching 18" Thermador hood, and ended up picking up one that had never been installed for $100.

Now I have the challenge of retrofitting a motor that is compliant or going with an in-wall inline blower (not sure how cost effective it will be).

From all of my research, it looks like a Best P3 or Air King B300 will mount up pretty easily with a custom fabricated mounting plate. I have also looked at buying a Ventahood "magic lung" motor, wheel and housing, but that would require fabricating a motor mounting "box" to serve as the back to the housing.

My question for the forum is whether or not I am missing some blower options that are under 400CFM?

I already know that the range "requires" more than 400, but I am not going to drop a ton in a MUA at this point.
