I painted three kitchens in Ralph Lauren Startched Apron. It's a soft white that flows well with almost any color in the world :) and it's not glaring. I also use it for most ceilings.

I only do woodwork and cabinets in gloss paint. It's stronger (latex) and will be more washable over time.

Benjamin Moore "Lambskin" in a gloss finish. I took the recommendation of the guy in the paint store who said he'd used this color on his cabinets and they look great. Other recommendations of his have worked out well for me also.

You've beat me to the post, Shortycake! I'm about to paint the cabinets in my laundry room white (and the walls pale green) and I've been wondering what color and brand would work best on them. Now I have three choices to check out down at Lowes. I love this forum!

We used the Restoration Hardware color "Buttermilk" (although I'm sure they didn't get the paint there). It's a nice creamy off-white. The cabinet guys wanted to do a more glossy finish but I wanted it low sheen. Something glossier probably would have been easier to clean, but I like the more matte finish.

There are many ways to find the perfec white. I would try tpo get a crisp white. Try a few test cans first and see how they look in your lighting.
