I think a material strong enough to make an aircraft windshield ought to be strong enough to survive a wipe-down as a backsplash without scratching.

eleena, I don't know the answer to your question. I've always wished to find out how your venting hood liner finally worked out? I remember the space as high and small and seeing as you're up to BS, I surmise you worked through the hood problem with the chimney. Hope I'm not mis-remembering, if so, just ignore this.

I don't know if Lexan is a little different than the Chroma but Lexan is awesome. I've used it for lots of projects and was actually going to use it on my backsplash in my last home, but ended up changing directions.

I was looking at the Chroma website, and they have pictures of walls, floors, chairs, and tables made of this stuff so I think it would be overkill for a backsplash it terms of scratch resistance. It should be neat though and very modern looking.

A wall that has to accept a sheet of anything has to be FLAT. You've got work to do, no matter what material you choose. Floaing out the wall will be required.

I asked about scratch resistance was because I saw a table on Houzz with the top that looked like Chroma. I'll start another post because it is more than just about Chroma.

If so, the answer was there all along but I was too stuck on the problem to accept it. :$

I took Hollysprings' advice and demo-ed the brick. :-)

That made everything so much easier and the kitchen looks lighter and more spacious. I am not finished it (had to put it "on hold") but will be soon, and I love it so far.
