We have installed a Modernaire hood in our kitchen, and have about 24" from the end of the chimney that came with the hood to our ceiling. We are trying to figure out a good way to extend the chimney (or soffit). Moderrnaire can make one for us at a cost of $46 per inch. We could conceivably have our contractor frame and drywall a soffit down to the hood, but that would look strange.

Anyone know of a "universal" extension, or something that would work in this case? Many thanks.
