I use photobucket. First register, it's free. Then upload your pics. If you want to insert a picture directly into your post you copy the html. link on photobucket that appears under your uploaded picture and the paste it into your mesage box on the forum. I open photobucket in a different browers window so I can go back and forth between my picture album and the forum. It makes it easier to post or refer to your pictures. If you want to post a link under your message in the forum you copy the direct link url under your photobucket picture and past that into the Optional Link URL directly under the message box on the forum.
THen you can create a "name" for the link for readers to click and view.

Okay, I've opened a Photobucket account and now can post a link so people can check out pictures of mine. But what I want to know, how do people do it when there's not a link but actually a picture right there, so it's not a two-step process to look at a picture.

Under your photo in photobucket, you will see a window titled "html code" copy that code that you see in the box by clicking on it once. Then simply "paste" it into the text of your message where you want the photo to appear...and like magic, it does so when you click on "preview message." Give it a shot here and if you're still having trouble I'll try to help...
