Site painted is a hack techniquue. Cabinets should always be built and finished off site, whether a local guy uses paint or a major manufacturer does them with a catalyzed varnish. Quality builders don't offer site built crap.

BTW, touchup isn't a big deal at all. Every installed cabinet out here gets touched upduring the install. Have your professonal istaller show you how he does it. Once again, it's what separates a good builder from a hack. Hacks ''have a guy I know'' who may not really know a thing about cabinet installs. Reputable bilders use professional cabinet installers. There can be a big difference in how that makes your expensive cabinets look.

OK, when it's time to repaint these spray-painted cabinets...not just 'touch up'...what's the procedure? Don't you have to rough them up?

To do a complete repaint, yes, you would need to do a scuff sanding. Not a big deal at all.

Do installers typically use a touch-up kit provided by the manufacturer? Will I be able to touch-up the cabinets myself if any minor damage or chipping should occur?
