the preceding statement is not accurate. Light colored "granites" in general are no more prone to etching than any other colors. They are also no more prone to staining except for the fact that a stain could easily be more noticeable in a lighter colored stone.

If you are a reasonably good housekeeper you shouldn't worry about staining as it is a relatively rare occurence (less than 12 incidents in several thousand jobs) and if it does occur most of the time a stain can be removed.

pick something that has the look you want. ALL quartz brands are made on the same machines so if you've found one you like go for it.

I live in the Detroit Metro area and PMP Marble and Granite in Troy usually has White Princess quartzite in stock. If you live close I would suggest them. They have a large inventory of granite and marble. I just put a deposit on beautiful White Princess for my new build.

A simple google search for marble look alike or marble alternative will turn up tons of links explaining the different options.
