Anyone who is serious about renovating an old house needs a subscription to Old House Journal. It has been the standard for well over 50 years. I have beeen a subscriber since I was a boy -- and I will not tell you how long ago that was.

We let our OHJ subscription expire... I may have to renew. I used to love their bathroom renos.

This photo is beautiful. Character rug, textured glass, cafe curtains... even the tile counters, which most would snub, are appropriate. Thanks for sharing.

We had a chair/stool combo just like that when I was growing up, except ours was white. I love that photo, a timeless kitchen for sure!

My kitchen is (99%) done and I STILL couldn't resist picking up this issue! My husband thought I was crazy, but hey, eye candy is eye candy! I'm vacationing in the US right now, I've never seen this magazine where I live. But I'll be on the lookout now.

I would have that counter in a heartbeat. Growing up we had one of those stools in blue.

I had forgotten about those stools. Useful as a ladder too. Wonder if they are still made?
