i have calacatta crema. i chose simply white. i tried out samples with white dove but it looked too dingy yellow/green.

Get some of those drywall sample boards at Lowes or HD and get sample pots of your paint choices. Paint up the boards and Take them to the house with the sample board of your calacatta gold and look at them in your light.
I did that with my samples, poor dh has now painted up about a dozen drywall sample boards, and the light in our house changed the colors I thought I'd decided on.
I am now totally confident that the color choices are the right ones for our house. It's the only real way you can know. The light in someone else's house is going to be different, and influence their choices.

What did you end up deciding on for perimeter counter tops?

That's a great idea. I have some sample tiles but not enough to do a board- I am guessing if I google sample board: gardenweb I'll find instructions somewhere?

Perimeter Countertop- my husband is putting his foot down on Cambrian Black Quartz. He will not consider greys, brownish greys, bronzey browns, etc. This has become an issue because our builder's preferred fabricator does not fabricate Cambria. We have pulled blacks from various other brands and he will not accept them. They are close but not identical. Either there are too many flecks or the sheen is slightly (ever so slightly) different. I'm at a loss. In the finished kitchen I think it would make no difference- you will still get a sense of 'black' perimeters. But he is being so darn picky.

So I don't even know what to do at this point.
