I'm just wondering--does the heat of the oven fry the electronics on the backsplash of a freestanding gas range? My slide-in gets pretty darn hot. I've never had a range with a backsplash, but I'm considering it because of the major savings. Also, we've had a decorative backsplash as a focal point, and I'd like to have a new one in our renovation. But I suppose we could still do so, just place it a little higher up?
