Cork floors and broken plates

Kathy Rivera

I witnessed first hand tonight how a plate/bowl doesn't break when it hits your new cork floors. However, it does break when it hits your DW handle. And the sharp edges do a nice job of scratching and gouging the new cork floor when they land. :/ Luckily, small enough that I'll likely be the only one to ever notice.

But, the DW handle has a decent ding in it - small but deep and sharp. It's right in the middle, too, so a place that gets grabbed all the time. Do you think I can "sand" it out? And what would I use? Steel wool? It's stainless (or brushed metal of some sort). I don't expect to get it to disappear, but I just want it smooth so it doesn't hurt any hands. Thoughts?
