We have had the Medallion Cabinetry Inc. Designer Gold Series cabinets with the undermount guides and self closing drawers for four years now. I love the cabinets. They look fabulous, excellent quality both inside and out and the self closing guides work perfectly. I couldn't be happier.

We have Haas cabinets at the beach house, put in by the builder. I'm sure they are the least expensive Haas had on offer. They look nice, but the drawer glides are those really cheap kind that install on the side of the drawer and have a nylon wheel. Also, the stile in the middle of the 30" cabinet is 4" wide. As a result, the pullouts (two up, two down) are only 8" wide. Result: 16" width of storage space in a 30" cabinet. It bugs me every time I open it. Maybe Haas has a higher quality line, but I would buy Medallion if I were you. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Oh...I have seen (and heard from others here) that Medallion cherry can have big knots/holes right in the middle of the door. I actually saw one displayed in a kitchen showroom. It might help to specify that any doors or drawers like that wouldn't be acceptable.

Medallion is a semi-custom...Haas is a stock grade. So as far as quality, Medallion is definitely better. And naturally, it will also cost more than Haas.

Thank you all for the relies. I was leaning towards the Medallion, but just needed the reassurance before pulling the trigger. I figured I might me sorry trying to save a couple thousand on cabinets if the quality was significantly different.

Thanks for the heads up on the knots in Cherry, I think we are leaning towards maple.

Kathy56, did you end up getting Medallion? Do you like them? I'm about to remodel and am going through the same process you went through in March. I've heard Diamond is good, too. Please share any information about Diamond, Medallion, or other cabinet companies you think are good. I'm leaning toward maple with a light stain, or perhaps natural.
