I had numerous pages from magazines I used to design my kitchen. I took ideas and changed them to meet our wants/needs.

From the looks of your threads, you need to find a local custom cabinetmaker. You can get the look you want for less than "custom" manufacturers and get exactly what you want. You'll have to do your homework. I looked at every cabinet company available, visited four KD's and looked at numerous local custom shops. In the end, I had them built in England for less than I would have paid to have them made in the States.

Thank you for your responses. Allison, I love your kitchen and appreciate your advice. I just have to figure out what I want. I have so many styles: tradtional, tropical, New England, Southern, etc. I know I want white cabinets. That is what I have now and what my husband wants (and I do too--though I would consider cabinets painted yellow too). Anyway, I have a bold wallpaper currently. I have to figure out what I want in the new house.

In addition to the FKB and other kitchens posted here, DH and I also used key word searches in Google - i.e. parade of homes, zen kitchen, European kitchen, etc - basically any descriptive terms we could think of.

I probably looked through all of the cabinet manufacturer sites listed in the FKB.

We searched in various photo sites (i.e. photobucket, picasa, flickr, pbase, etc)

I looked through a TON of home listings in our area looking at their kitchens (not much luck there - most of the remodeled kitchens were too formal for my taste)

I went to every cabinet showroom and picked up every free cabinet catalog - it was great to be able to leaf through for little detail ideas after your base idea is grasped.

I found a publication, The Art of Luxury Living KITCHENS, very helpful. I think it is an annual publication full of kitchens designs (all styles) with sources listed for each kitchen. I purchased from Lowe's. And, like nodirthere, went to showrooms and obtained lots of cabinet literature. Ideas come from so many places.

www.kcma.org is the kitchen cabinet manufacturers site and they have a list of various cabinet manufacturers with clickable links to peruse the galleries on each makers site.
