A light rail should block the view.

The light rail covers when standing up. But when sitting down you can see the bottom of the uppers.

Our cabinetmaker made 1/4" thick panels for the bottoms of the uppers, and we installed the UCL light bars below those panels. As a result, our LED light bars protrude slightly below the bottom of the light rail. You can't see them when you are standing, and they are not objectionable looking from a seated position. I can post pictures of the installation if you'd like.

Our LED light bars are direct wire, but if you go with low voltage LED tape rolls you'll have nothing to worry about. If we wanted, we could have had the cabinetmaker make cutouts to recess the light bars, but it didn't seem necessary.

I was sitting in my kitchen when you posted, so I took a quick snapshot of the installation showing the protrusion of the light bars below the light rail Of course, a thicker light rail would cover these, so if you still have time to spec the light rail dimensions, you can account for this.

We have our UCLs on a dimmer switch, and I turned the brightness down for this photo.

I have a fairly short light rail, and you cannot see my led tape light at all sitting at kitchen table, or even from the couch infamily room, which is even lower. Here are some picts.

Here you can see we put them about 3" back from the front of the cabinets. From the family room you can tell that the underside is a different color than the fronts. I suppose I could put some stain on the underside and take care of that. I'll wait and see if it bothers me.
