OT What happens to 'older' threads?

I just tried to "bump" a year-old thread linked from a recent one (b/c I wanted to see the final pix of the kitchen). When I go to the thread again, I see my post, but the thread does not show up on the first page. The same thing happened a few days ago with another older thread.

What gives?

Once threads fall off the end of the index, they're pretty much toast. You can still find them on Google for awhile, and link to them, and sometimes even add to them, but once they're off the index they don't get back on. After awhile they're purged from the system too. The Internet Archive is way behind on its mission, and the Kitchens Forum moves so fast not all threads are sampled, but you can sometimes find really old threads on the wayback machine.

You can start a new thread to give your comment.

Oh, that is too bad!

I have links to some old GW threads (from 2007 and 2008) as my Favorites. They had really good info. it'd be a pity if I couldn't find them. :-(

And I re-posted my question about Alabamamommy's finished kitchen to a recent thread.

Thank you!

If there are threads like that which you really want to keep, save them to your computer. You can make a special folder just for them. The pictures get saved to a subfolder for each thread. It's very organized, and it's all yours with no worries about it turning into a WHOOPS! message, which is what you see when you call for something that is no longer there.
