Laminating is usually done with epoxy adhesives making the laminations very difficult to remove. It couldn't be done in your home. Given the cost to remove the tops from your house, remove the laminatesm, and then reinstall you'd certainly be ahead cost wise to simply replace the tops.

Yikes. I know you were sick, but it seems like most of these 'oops countertop' threads starts with 'I couldn't be there.'

Can you post a picture of the edge? Is it a bad seam or is it really just the thickness? I would love to see the SS tops because I love metal (my grandpa and dad had a metal fabrication business).

Maybe you just need some time to get used to the thickness since Oldryder said you would have to pay for replacement. This countertop business is scary.

Is the stacked edge two pieces stacked one upon another for a square edge or is it an ogee or dupont laminated edge? Do post a picture so we can see it. It may not be as bad as you think, just different from what you expected. You will get honest opinions from people here & possibly some ideas for resolution.

I'd slap a fence on the Raptor and cut the tops down in the house. The inside corners and ends that butt to cabinets and walls would have to be freehanded. The masking and cleanup bill would be about as much as the work itself, but it could be done depending on the size and configuration of the job.

Of course this is assuming the edges lip over the cabinets; you can't cut the edge off and expose underlayment. If not, you're back to replacement.
