FYI, Houzz has a bunch of new kitchens ideabooks up today, including one of over 20 members' before and after kitchen renos. Fun to look through! some are very nicely done, but some folks would have been well served by getting some GW advice on their layout before starting!

Here is a link that might be useful: Before and after ideabook

Thanks that was fun! It's great to see what great renovations were accomplished with limited budgets.

And the prize for the most needed before and after goes to #7, the kitchen from India. If ever you're feeling sorry for yourself because you don't have a fancy, schmancy range, check out the hot plate with propane tank!

I actually like the green and white stripe thing. It looks fun.

Wow, that before does look like a safety hazard even more so than an aesthetic issue. It never hurts to have a humbling reminder of how good many of us have it.

If you click on the photo, it will come up full size and you can check out the electricals in all their terrifying glory.

I agree - the Indian one was amazing and humbling. I think I could have lived happily in some of the other before kitchens. They weren't so bad, although they were definitely improved.

Some of the after pics have some issues too. The San Fransico one with the OTR microwave too narrow for the vintage O&M range (which is very nice) may be considered a fire hazard.
